Policies you voted on being bastardised?

Policies you voted on being bastardised?

Negotiations are ongoing between the National Party and New Zealand First (and we can guess Act is in there somewhere) and they are negotiating on policy ... policy they aren't consulting voters on, policy that they think is best for you without your input.

This is a prime example of politicians negotiating on policy WITHOUT the input from the People.  Why do we allow politicians/parties to put forward policy that, when it comes to negotiating because they do not have a majority to make a government, needs to be changed to suit both parties, yet this is a policy that supposedly a proportion of people voted on.  Will that proportion be happy to have the policy bastardised to fit political wrangling?  I think not.

If we voted on policy solely, we wouldn't have the issues of:

(a) forming a government

(b) changing policy to suit various policial movements
